Arthropod Arts shop in Rottingdean

Arthropod Arts is based in Rottingdean just off the village seafront and along the coast from Brighton. Imagine an artist studio, toy shop and science lab and you are close to getting it!

Artist and Scientist duo Sharon and Anna  run this  fantastical art & science shop alongside children`s workshops & parties in the “Creativity Lab”. Look out for our family friendly Artist and Scientist in residence projects too.

Arthropod Arts was founded in May 2013 by Artist Sharon Mee and Scientist Anna Gathy. But it has been in our imagination for a lot longer! We were looking for a way to regularly connect children and young people with Artists and Scientists. Because we believe that these creative relationships will nurture the next generation of artists, scientists, inventors and makers.

Creativity and fun are at the heart of what we do! We believe in the power of the imagination and experimentation and that through the process of creating something, transformational things can happen!

Our name is inspired by the Arthropoda family because we are fascinated by the fact that there are over a million described species, making up more than 80% of all described living animal species! And they include our favourites the crustaceans, insects and arachnids.

You will see our logo is a cheeky crab character, this is Artie the Arthropod and he has lots of exciting things to share with you and your friends and family.

Arties Parties

Saturdays and Sundays 12-2pm or 4-6pm Must be pre-booked.

Do you have a little Artzilla in your house?

(your very own ART or SCIENCE monster creating a gorgeous mess everywhere)

We offer awesome Arties parties just for them! In our ART LAB all decorated to your bespoke theme!

With a real life wacky scientist too! Make slimey goo, watch a volcano erupt or create an art masterpiece!

Each party is themed ( we can do any theme you like) and everyone goes home with fantastic creations. From paper craft to clay, fridge magnets to wind chimes, sewing purses to constructing robots, decorating t-shirts or treasure chests, experiment with bath-bombs or  fizzy sherbet  and more.

The birthday boy or girl can even get to take home their very own handmade willow and paper lantern/sculpture — created by all your fab friends.

Our Party packages are 1 hr, 1.5hrs or 2hrs long depending on how many activities you choose.

As an example: The first 40mins we create the big lantern/ sculpture/ or create a science experiment, then we have a break for 10/20min  minutes — usually this is when the kids have the food. Then the final hour is making your choice of themed creations.

Please email arthropodarts@gmail.com for an up to date list of themes and packages we currently offer

Treat them to an Art Science birthday they will never forget.
